Vehicle Lifts

Vehicle Lifts

Browse our selection of hitch-mounted or inside hoist vehicle lifts.

  • Hitch-Mounted – units use a pre-existing mount to carry mobility equipment. Typically stronger and more durable. They also allow the user to drive onto the platform for lifting. But they are on the outside of the vehicle. Exposing the lift and the equipment to the weather.
  • Inside Hoist – lifts are mounted inside larger vehicles and may require additional modifications. These are usually smaller and require more work to secure the load. However, they carry mobility equipment into a vehicle, protecting it. Additionally, they do not block access to the hitch.

If you are new to using vehicle lifts or aren’t sure which one is right for you, Ray Fisher Pharmacy has trained staff ready to help.

So which Vehicle Lift is right for me?

The size and type of your vehicle determine what kind of lift you can use.

  • If your vehicle has a hitch that supports a hitch-mounted lift, you can use a hitch-mounted lift.
  • Smaller vehicles benefit from a hitch-mounted lift, since the unit doesn’t take up limited internal space. Often, the hoist itself can’t even fit in smaller sedans and hatchbacks,
  • If your vehicle has a trunk or area that can fit an inside-hoist, you can use a hoist lift.
  • Larger vehicles can use either an inside-hoist or a hitch-mounted lift as needed. However, inside-hoists are often used, since larger vehicles may already be using the hitch for another accessory.

The size of your mobility equipment determines what you should use.

  • Small equipment, like power wheelchairs or portable scooters, can benefit from an inside-hoist. Allowing the unit to be fully protected inside your vehicle.
  • Medium scooters can go either way: stored inside for protection or outside for ease of driving on/off the platform.
  • Large scooters almost always need a platform lift, as most vehicles can’t fit the whole unit. However, vans and pickup trucks can still use inside hoists if the hitch is not available.

Finally, your typical use case determines the convenience of what you use.

  • If you are only driving short distances or require your equipment frequently, hitch-mounted lifts are convenient and quick solutions to bringing your mobility equipment with you. Allowing you to mount and dismount your equipment much faster.
  • If you are travelling for long periods or need your mobility equipment infrequently, inside hoists allow you to keep your equipment safely stored until you arrive. Keeping your equipment clean and preventing damage.
