Why Do You Need a Hospital Bed?

When deciding whether to use your own bed or a dedicated hospital bed, it is essential to understand why you would use a hospital bed and its accessories.

Hospital beds provide several benefits for both caregivers and their patients.

The frames can be equipped with bed rails to prevent falls or aid in getting in and out of bed.

Fully Electric beds change the height of the bed and change sleeping postures with a simple controller.

Semi and full electric beds use therapeutic positioning to keep the head and legs elevated.

Most frames also have lockable wheels that allow for quick repositioning.

Medical mattresses are designed to provide additional support, make transfers easier, and reduce the risk of bedsores while resting.

We offer the following hospital bed mattresses.

Low Air Loss – Helps maintain a drier environment for preventing or healing from pressure ulcers and other illnesses

Gel Overlay – Aids in preventing pressure ulcers and bottoming out with a multi-bladder gel package

Softform Excel – Base layer features a firm foam, while the upper layer is made up of castellated cells for full body immersion

Softform Premier – Features a U-shaped base layer for firmer walls and easier patient transfer

Glissando Gliding – Dual foam build moves independently, allowing for easier patient transfer and comfort

Hospital Bed Rails

We offer the following Bed Rails in-store and online:

Halo Rails – A bed safety ring that allows the patients to grab it at any angle, providing a stable anchor point for getting into and out of bed

Folding Bed Rail – A mid-length bed rail that has a convenient pouch for bedside storage and folds away when not needed.

Half Rails – Provides half-size railing for ease of use and prevents entrapment

Full Rails – Covers the entire side of the bed, preventing falling out, with spring loading to maintain tension.

Underbed Safety Rails – Near universal underbed safety, adjusts for most beds to provide additional support.

Additional Bedroom Items

This image shows a woman lying in bed, using an Overbed table to hold a laptop and a mug.

Aside from the medical mattresses, we also have bed accessories such as trapeze bars, patient lifts, and overbed tables.

Trapeze bars help patients reposition in bed, sit up, and transfer from the bed. Improving independence and providing a way to move without relying on lower body strength.

Patient lifts aid caretakers in moving wheelchair bound or low mobility individuals to and from bed. Offered as either manual pump lifts or electric lifts.

Finally, there are overbed tables, which act as the name implies.  Tables that can go over the bed. Allowing for eating, writing, or simply holding items while in bed.
